Spiro Unveils Bold Moves in Manufacturing, Market Growth at Africa CEO Forum 2025

Abidjan, May 13, 2025 – Spiro, Africa’s largest electric mobility company, has announced a powerful series of strategic initiatives during the Africa CEO Forum 2025, signaling its intent to transform the continent’s mobility landscape through industrial innovation, market expansion, and sustainability. At the heart of these developments was a high-profile collaboration with global music icon and entrepreneur Davido, who joined Spiro as a brand ambassador and strategic partner.

A Star-Powered Launch: Davido Joins Spiro’s EV Revolution

The Forum witnessed the unveiling of Spiro’s latest line of electric vehicles co-created with Davido, including the limited-edition Davido Collectible and the sleek new Alpha+ by Davido model. The partnership blends star power with sustainable innovation, aiming to make EVs aspirational and accessible to Africa’s youth.

“When I was contacted by Spiro, it wasn’t just about how big the brand was—it was about the motive and the goal,” Davido shared at the launch. “The idea of making electric bikes cool and efficient for young people stood out. It’s made in Africa—it doesn’t get better than that.”

Kaushik Burman, CEO of Spiro, emphasized the broader vision: “These bikes are going to be made by Africans, in Africa, for African terrains. This marks the beginning of a renaissance in Africa’s industrial transformation. We are proud to collaborate with Davido on this journey.”

The endorsement resonated across leadership circles. “Just as Davido was born in Africa for the world, our first bike is for global Africa,” said Benedict Omarah, President of Afreximbank. Gagan Gupta, CEO of ARISE, echoed the mission: “We partnered to create something that cuts operational costs and supports local economies. Spiro is made in Africa for the world.”

Accelerating Market Expansion Across Africa

Spiro officially announced its entry into Tanzania and Cameroon, reinforcing its commitment to clean, affordable mobility. To support this growth, new assembly plants will be established in Uganda, Nigeria, and Rwanda, complementing the operational facility in Kenya. These developments are central to Spiro’s 100% Made-in-Africa strategy.

Kenya also now hosts Africa’s first AI-powered Smart Factory, leveraging Industry 4.0 to enhance efficiency, component localization, and gender inclusion. A standout feature: the continent’s first fully women-operated traction motor assembly line, developed through Spiro Academy, the company’s training platform.

Digital Innovation and Gender Empowerment

Technology and inclusion remain at the core of Spiro’s growth. The company has launched Spiro Maps, an IoT-powered digital platform built across Kenya, Nigeria, and India. In parallel, Agentic AI now supports data-driven operations across Spiro’s ecosystem.

To foster gender equity, Spiro signed a Memorandum of Understanding between Spiro Academy and SEPHIS Foundation under the Shero Programme, which aims to accelerate financial inclusion and support women entrepreneurs in the clean mobility sector.

Driving Sustainability and the Circular Economy

To date, Spiro’s electric vehicles have enabled over 500 million CO₂-free kilometres across Africa. As part of its sustainability roadmap, the company has introduced a patented second-life battery energy storage solution, repurposing used EV batteries for stationary, decentralized energy applications—an important step in expanding Africa’s circular economy.

Spiro continues to drive forward with a mission rooted in local value creation, climate action, and inclusive industrial growth.
