As Kenya’s economy demonstrates a strong recovery, with a Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth of 14% in 2023, the construction sector remains a key driver, contributing 6.6% to the GDP. In light of this growth, the Big 5 Construct Kenya event is set to take place from 6 to 8 November 2024 at the Sarit Expo Centre, uniting over 8,500 industry professionals with more than 150 leading construction companies from 25 countries.
This year’s event promises to be significant, featuring country pavilions from nations such as China, Egypt, Germany, India, Italy, Türkiye, and the UAE. These pavilions will showcase the latest trends and innovations in construction, reflecting the global developments impacting the industry.
The Kenyan construction sector is experiencing notable projects that align with the country’s Vision 2030, which aims to position Kenya as a globally competitive and industrialized economy. Landmark initiatives such as Konza Technology City, the LAPSSET Corridor Programme, and the expansion of the Mombasa port exemplify this growth. Such developments underscore the importance of Big 5 Construct Kenya as a platform for collaboration among local and international stakeholders in the industry.
Endorsed by the Ministry of Lands, Public Works, Housing, and Urban Development, the event aims to facilitate connections among contractors, consultants, developers, architects, project managers, engineers, and facility managers. “Big 5 Construct Kenya aims to support international companies in tapping into diverse opportunities within Kenya’s construction industry and facilitate their engagement with influential buyers and decision-makers,” stated Mehtap Gursoy, Portfolio Director – Construction, dmg events.
With more than 150 exhibitors across the full construction value chain, attendees will have access to cutting-edge products and services ranging from building materials and concrete to digital construction technologies and sustainable solutions. Noteworthy participants include Stanley Black & Decker, Mapei, and Liebherr, alongside first-time exhibitors like Decotech Metal and Scaffco.
In addition to the exhibition, Big 5 Construct Kenya will feature the Big 5 Talks, which includes over 20 Continuing Professional Development (CPD)-certified sessions led by more than 30 industry speakers. These sessions will address key themes such as architecture, project management, technology, and sustainability, providing valuable insights into the sector’s challenges and opportunities.
Supported by various professional organizations, including the Town and County Planners Association of Kenya and the Kenya Green Building Society, Big 5 Construct Kenya serves as an essential event for industry professionals. Registration is now open for trade and industry professionals over the age of 18, with free admission available.
